The timeless beauty of a piece of furniture is defined not only by the style, the lines and the materials, but also by the heart and soul of the artisan craftsman who created the harmonious whole. That is what creates a “classic”. Our Classic Collection is built using hand selected, handcrafted and hand finished woods, from barns across the country, by Pennsylvania craftsmen who are the inheritors of centuries-old traditions and skills. These pieces will be at home in your home, from an exposed brick loft to a suburban colonial to a mountain retreat.
Dependability is an oft too fleeting thing. Mr. Franklin reminded us that death and taxes were the only things certain to make the list. We offer this chair as a worthy candidate. Solidly built, of timeless quality and style, beautifully appointed and, most significantly, dependably comfortable. Isn’t it time to add something we’d all appreciate to that list?
It draws your eye, no matter what else is in the room. You walk in and there it is, holding the picture or the collectible or the heirloom that best describes you and your style. Our mantle is a study in simplicity – a single thick-cut beam that radiates with the warmth of well-seasoned wood. The statement it makes is undeniably powerful and stylishly seductive.
Now is that a knick or a knack? And, by the way, what’s the difference? If it has value, real and/or sentimental, we have the perfect place to show it off…away from little hands and nosey guests. The window pane-style doors let you keep an admiring eye on even the smallest trinket. Life is full of interesting little juxtapositions.
You may say that you have nothing to say, but your Writing Desk says something different. From casual thank you notes to long suppressed authorial ambitions, we can all benefit from a few quite moments alone, with pen and paper, collecting our thoughts. There’s no better place than a solid traditional desk (with plenty of drawer space for your implements) to feel connected once again to the ideas that inspire actions and emotions, even if it’s just next week’s honey-do list.
Along the way you have acquired a certain amount of, well, stuff. We all have. In the realm of dinning and entertaining, the problem with the stuff is that is a bit more delicate. It needs a home within your home. Hello, hutch. This is the place to put it all. Shelves, drawers, counter space – all in abundance. Show your stuff some love.
You want your very own island, you say? Well, if it’s an island you want, it’s an island you shall have. Imagine getting all the counter space you ever dreamed of, without having to call a contractor and without having to relocate for a month. The beautifully turned legs support a hearty top and lower shelves that are perfect for your recipe books. The doors and drawers hold just the right kitchen tools to help you unleash your inner gourmet. It’s okay to be a little demanding. After all, it is your island.
The Norman’s were a mighty hoard, to be sure, and they liked to feast heartily on the bounty of the land and sea. You can’t do that on some dainty little table. This crowd was our inspiration. Stout and strong, you can definitely trust these tables to stand up to biggest meal for your biggest “invaders”. Bring on the turkey legs!
Not usually the types to hoist something upon a pedestal, we made an exception with this collection of tables. A round pedestal table makes all the difference in the heft of a piece. Pull the chairs in close when the space is just a little tight, this style can handle it. The flair of the base is in the smooth turning and the almost delicate feet. Right, especially when the kitchen table is only place for a great meal.
Legs. We love legs. You can certainly tell that from the options in legs that we offer. From square to turned to tapered, they all have their fans. But there is just something about those cabaret legs. From the curved “thigh” down the sleekest of “ankles”, these legs just make the piece. The fact there are four of them does makes the metaphor a little strange, but we can live with it.
In some situations, legs can get in the way. When it comes to getting a few extra people around a casually elegant table, moving to a trestle base can make all the difference. It also makes putting the kids on a bench along the side and squeezing in a few more even easier. A table without legs? Oh, the possibilities!
